Patios, Paths, Drives & Decking

MK have completed many patios and paths for clients over the years.  We always work in a very tidy and considerate manner and our clients are always very satisfied with the results and the costs.

We work with a range of materials from yorkstone, sandstone, crazy paving, block paviers, right through to old-time cobblestones for and authentic traditional feel.  We also construct French drains, Hex-drains and such-like where needed and in fitting with the environment.

Smooth Indian sandstone angled & sloped patio

MK's slab of choice has to be the smooth sandblasted Indian sandstone seen here.  It's a a very modern finish and always makes any outdoor space look totally enhanced.  It's so versatile and can be laid to run water off in any direction, bowling green flat, to avoid the inevitable puddles of water you often get with riven slabs.  It's not by any means slippy when wet and always brings a smile to the customer's face when laid.

Smooth sandstone patio and flow down through garden

Working with smooth (i.e sandblasted) rather than riven sandstone slabs makes for a completly flat modern look to your patio.  We can supply many different ranges with tonal variations to suit every taste, budget and desired look.  This Raj Green selection, was set off by incorporating raised straight-cut oak sleeper beds, granite sett border-edging, french drains around base of house and double trellis screens placed to hide the shed.

Levelling block pavier patio area

The patio at the far end of a client's garden had sunk down considerably over the past couple of years.  Possibly due to foxes who are always present in the garden but possibly also due to an insufficient sub base being laid at the time of installation.  Sub bases are just as important as the top level if you want maintenance and hassle free paths and patios for your garden for years to come.

Granite Setts for improved grip onto road

Our client's drive is made up of lots of large pebbles and stones which, especially during the winter months, become slippery, rutted and thus difficult to get a good grip on.  This is particularly problematic as the drive meets a busy country lane with restricted views of the oncoming traffic - so grip is important for many reasons.  MK were asked to provide a solution which would be in keeping with the local rustic charm and be long lasting.  Our solution was to use granite setts to the length of a car so that the owners could exit the drive with confidence and the surface could stand up to all conditions come rain, shine or snow.

Sloping Path for Wheelchair Acces

A client asked that a deeply stepped access path to his property be resloped and relaid using the existing thick Yorkstone slabs in such a way as to enable motorised wheelchair access for a family member.  By calculating an appropriate slope and path angle, MK landscaped the terrain to accomodate the clients wishes, all the while making the edges safe and wider, where needed, so the wheelchair could not drop off in certain previously unsafe places.

Raised Patio

A client needed a patio to cover an upper area of garden which was quite sloped (2 feet drop off over 12 feet).  A bradstone set was chosen which incorporated a series of circles inside a square designed patio.  MK landscaped the terrain, added a suitable subbase after a retaining wall was built around the patio's edge.  A half moon step down into ther garden designed and built to accomodate the sharp drop off.
